Getting Started

Construction Site All we need to get started on your new home or addition plans is a site plan of the property and your wish list. Sometimes an on site meeting is necessary. Sketches and pictures are helpful (but not necessary) and a general orientation of the rooms. E.g. you may want your kitchen at the back or facing east. Sketches don’t have to be artistic or to scale. Just bring in your ideas and we’ll put it all together for you.

If you already know which Municipal zone you are in and the bylaws, that’s great. If not, we can look into all of that for you.

After our initial meeting, we will do up some preliminary floor plans, and a front elevation. We will review these together. You can take a copy home with you to go over in your own time. You will probably want to make some changes and adjustments. In many instances we can finish up from there, but if there is more tweaking to be done and different things to try, that is not a problem. It’s best to try things on paper first, to get it just right for you.

Most Building departments require an Engineer’s stamp on the drawings. I have a few Engineers I can direct you to or your contractor may have someone he or she works with.
